Horizons in Practical Theology: Religious Practices as a Context for Interreligious Engagement: A Response to Rkia Cornell and John Berthrong
Dr. Claire Wolfteich
Boston University

Our presenters raise several fascinating questions for us to address as practical theologians. In what ways might practice be a significant context for interreligious engagement? What kinds of practices are we considering and what do we mean by "engagement"? Obviously, all "interreligious engagement" is not good; it could be conflictual, superficial, misguided or misinformed. How might we as practical theologians understand practices as a context for interreligous engagement; address normative questions about such engagement; and guide what may be a highly appealing yet deceptively complex spiritual and theological process?
